In 2000, as a fresh and ambitious 23 year-old, Christopher Smith hung up his chef’s apron and took a deep dive into the world of manufacturing and gourmet food operation.
Christopher took Valley Produce Company from humble Australian farmer’s markets to the world stage including New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK, Canada and the US, winning numerous local and international awards along the way.
A decade of managing employees gave Christopher the first-hand experience that would shape his passion for helping businesses take care of people.
In 2011, tired of transactional business relationships, Christopher started Yolk Agency, a management consultancy service that would help organisations save time, save money and improve their capabilities while putting people’s well-being first.
During this time Christopher consulted for industries of all shapes and sizes, and concluded that many Australian businesses struggled with human resource (HR) management and lacked the tools to succeed.
Our founder Christopher discovered that many large and small businesses were going through varying degrees of HR anxiety. Businesses are too busy to stay compliant. They also worry about keeping contracts up-to-date and containing the right information for performance and remuneration, and agonize over the employee performance management process.
There had to be a better way than using word documents and paper administration. We started our quest to solve these challenges by developing a cloud-based HR platform. And in 2015 Happy HR’s first version was released. The platform was welcomed by companies of all sizes in over 50 + industries.
In November of 2017, after a few more years of sweat and tears (happy tears), late nights and lots of coffee we launched a new version of Happy HR. This platform is more significant than our first version, designed to be the most comprehensive HR platform on earth.
We wanted Happy HR to be more than just a software. Our team of HR consultants, each holding a Bachelor of HR, provides advisory and expertise that help companies stay legally compliant.
Today, Happy HR’s software and HR premium services is trusted by more than 500 companies in industries spanning retail, professional services, accounting, trades, medical, not for profit, hospitality, automotive, construction, financial planning, early learning and child care, real estate and many more.
